The Historical Committee brings the context of a historical turning point into a debating platform where delegates represent historical personas rather than delegations in a historical dispute. The committee features war plans and negotiations with others that could lead to peace or war. In this forum, the debate is in ad hoc style and series of crises set the topic of debate. The quality of this debate lies with the crises ahead as well as the role-playing by the delegates. The delegates will be representing heads of state and therefore have access to the resources of their respective nations.
This year, the committee will be a simulation of the Berlin Conference of 1884 and the Scramble for Africa. Delegates will represent European colonizers of Africa as well as native leaders fighting for their lands.
