Development Programme
Established in 1962, World Food Program is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP works through four regional departments located in Africa, Americas, Asia and Middle East. All departments are funded by voluntary donations coming from governments, corporations and private donors. WFP provides food, on average to 90 million people in 80 countries each year, whom have suffered from several various dilemmas including natural disasters, economic crises and military conflicts. The organization works towards eradicating hunger and malnutrition through pursuing four primary objectives:
Saving lives and protecting livelihoods in emergencies
Supporting food security and nutrition and (re)building livelihoods in fragile settings and following emergencies
Reducing risk and enabling people, communities and countries to meet their own food and nutrition needs
Reducing undernutrition and break the intergenerational cycle of hunger
